Access Validating Agency (AVA) responsibilities

One Awards is an Access Validating Agency (AVA) licenced by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). We act as an Awarding Body for the accreditation of Access to HE Diplomas.

Our responsibilities include:

  • advice and guidance to providers wishing to develop new Access to HE Diplomas
  • validation of diplomas by a panel which includes HE representation
  • moderation and standardisation arrangements for Access to HE Diplomas
  • review and evaluation of Access to HE Diplomas
  • collaboration with local HE institutions to ensure the continuing fitness for purpose of recognised programmes.

You can find out more about the QAA Recognition Scheme for Access to HE Diplomas on the QAA Access to HE website.

“One Awards' innovative results service has been a fantastic development for universities and allows us to check students' achievement immediately ourselves. This is an excellent service which means that we are able to confirm student places quickly and effectively without having to follow up with providers and students or wait for results to be sent on to us. This is because their certification turnaround time of less than two days allows One Awards to process student results almost as soon as the colleges/providers have provided the final verified results. This really does help us put students at the heart of our confirmation process”.
