UCAS Tariff points

From September 2016 the Access to HE Diploma becomes part of the newly revised UCAS Tariff points. These points will be used for applications submitted for the 2017 admissions cycle onwards.

The inclusion of Access to HE Diplomas for the first time is part of a wide range of tariff changes from September 2016.

Those qualifications currently on the UCAS Tariff system will continue to attract points under the new system but the methodology is changing radically. The new Tariff uses the qualifications’ size and grades to calculate the total Tariff points and the points themselves are changing too.

For example, A* on an A Level will receive 56 points under the new Tariff, compared with 140 points currently awarded.

The points students receive depends upon their grade credit profiles and whilst the table is inevitably long it is very straightforward to navigate. There is also a very useful Tariff calculator on the UCAS website which enables students to calculate any combination of Access to HE grade credit profiles.

“One Awards' innovative results service has been a fantastic development for universities and allows us to check students' achievement immediately ourselves. This is an excellent service which means that we are able to confirm student places quickly and effectively without having to follow up with providers and students or wait for results to be sent on to us. This is because their certification turnaround time of less than two days allows One Awards to process student results almost as soon as the colleges/providers have provided the final verified results. This really does help us put students at the heart of our confirmation process”.
