“A noble purpose inspires sacrifice, stimulates innovation and encourages perseverance” (Hamel, G.)
We believe this quote could have been written with Ian in mind. Ian firmly believes that what we do in Access is indeed a noble mission; a life changing experience for students offering opportunities to fulfil previously untapped potential.
An innovation recently implemented on the health pathway, which Ian has been pivotal in delivering, is centred on the consolidation and utilisation of material from different diplomas with students working on an ‘Enquiry Based Case Study’.
This offers our students opportunities to be independent learners devising their own learning needs and working collaboratively to synthesise material and apply learning from all units on the course.
Ian has worked tirelessly to ensure this innovative method works. Specifically, his integration of maths as part of this development is, we feel, ground breaking receiving glowing feedback from both present and previous students.
Ian’s expertise and endless enthusiasm for all that is new and exciting in technology has enhanced student learning in a way a traditional classroom lesson never could. We look in the future to build on this seamless way of delivering material as the opportunities are there clear.
