NOCN Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training

Session Content

The NOCN Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is designed to provide an introduction to teacher education. Learners will gain knowledge on the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, inclusive teaching and learning approaches, facilitating learning and development with individuals or groups and the role of assessment in the teaching and learning process. Learners will have the opportunity to choose to study from a wide range of optional units to support specialist knowledge.

This qualification is suitable for learners aged 19 years or over. 

The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training prepares trainee teachers to teach in a wide range of contexts. It requires observation and assessment of performance. 

It can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers, including: 

  • individuals who are not currently teaching and training but who can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice requirements, requirements of the qualification;
  • individuals who are currently teaching and training, including those who have just begun teaching and training, and who can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice requirements, of the qualification; 
  • individuals currently working as assessors who wish to achieve a teaching qualification. Some units from the Learning and Development suite of qualifications may be achieved within this qualification. These units require practice to be assessed.

Individuals are not required to have achieved a Level 3 Award in Education and Training before undertaking a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. However, some individuals undertaking a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training may already have achieved a Level 3 Award in Education and Training.

Course Outline

The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training replaces the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) course and is designed to help you gain a Level 4 Education and Training qualification remotely, without the need for attending any classroom sessions. You will attend two workshop session remotely and have access to presentations, handouts and other support materials and you will have a dedicated tutor to support and guide you through your programme, enabling you to complete both the theoretical and practical assessments.

Assessment

These qualifications are assessed through a range of written tasks, assignments, projects, case studies resulting in a portfolio produced to meet the assessment criteria.

Application

Application forms should be completed and submitted to One Awards Training Please note: You will need an acceptable level of Literacy and Numeracy and ICT to be working at this Level. You must possess or be working towards either a GCSE or equivalent at Grade C or above or hold Adult Literacy and Numeracy qualifications at Level 2.

£750.00 per person for One Awards Member organisations

£900.00 per person for Non-Member organisations
